Water temperatures are much colder east of Hawaii than they are near the islands and the North American west coast as a result, tropical cyclones moving in like Darby is usually weakens due to the lack of warmer sea surface temperatures. Hurricane Darby has begun to weaken as it nears the Hawaiian Islands the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) in Honolulu expects the storm to rapidly weaken later tonight and tomorrow as the storm gets even closer to the Aloha State.
